ACQUITTAL

By day, Acquittal defends cases in wig and gown. By night, he crafts dark, cinematic electronica that draws from the shadows of film noir and prison drama. Such is Acquittal's unique double life as a criminal barrister and music producer
Before the wig and gown, there was kick and snare. Acquittal spent the 90s and 00s behind the kit for indie guitar bands across London and Bristol. During the mid 90s, he founded Club Artisan, a legendary Bristol venue that became a cultural cornerstone of the city's underground scene. The club hosted sets from notable acts including Rodney Allen (The Blue Aeroplanes), Martin Barnard (Moorhaven), Animals That Swim and The Jazz Butcher. A young Derren Brown even served as the club's resident close-up magician
After establishing his legal career, Acquittal DJ-ed at parties and clubs across London, including The Doll House and The House of St Barnabas. His transition to dark cinematic pop has resulted in atmospheric compositions that blend influences from Massive Attack, John Barry and the pioneering electronic sounds of the early 80s Blitz Club scene.
Today, Acquittal's sound judgment reflects insider knowledge of both Bristol's vibrant cultural underground and legal London
Acquittal works with new, rising and established artists and tv/film music supervisors
